To enhance the collagen regeneration effect of anti-aging treatments…
2023.02.10
Once people reach their 30s, when aging begins in earnest, they tend to take a greater interest in various anti-aging treatments such as laser procedures, injection treatments, and thread lifting.
In particular, there is strong interest in skin booster treatments, which are highly effective at restoring diminished collagen production while offering the advantages of fewer side effects, shorter recovery times, and lower cost burdens. Recently popular anti-aging treatments are sought after because they frequently demonstrate benefits across a wide range of concerns — including overall skin elasticity, improvement of fine lines around the eyes, mouth, and face in general as well as the neck area, improvement of skin dryness, reduction of enlarged pores, and even the removal of acne scars and stretch marks.
In particular, there is a growing number of people showing interest in Juvelook, an injection that uses PDLA (Poly D Lactic Acid) microparticles — a biodegradable polymer — to stimulate collagen production. Juvelook is injected directly into the dermal layer and subcutaneous tissue to induce internal autologous collagen synthesis. Rather than altering the skin through external substances, it is a procedure that drives change through autologous collagen regeneration, and because it acts directly across multiple layers of the skin, results appear more quickly. Compared to Sculptra, which contains PLLA, the likelihood of skin nodule formation is lower, making it safer for use in improving fine lines around the thin-skinned eye area and reducing dark circles.
Another advantage is that it is a safe procedure with long-lasting effects and very few side effects. Compared to laser treatments, side effects such as erythema or weeping are minimal, allowing for a faster return to daily activities. As with typical injection procedures, quick recovery is possible simply by avoiding alcohol and smoking.
Dr. Ryu Hyo-seop, director of Well Dermatology Clinic Apgujeong Main Branch, advised: "However, since the principle — similar to Sculptra — involves the injection of microporous microparticles to stimulate autologous collagen regeneration and drive change, it is important to massage the treated area thoroughly after the procedure. Therefore, following the doctor's instructions and proceeding with the appropriate method will help achieve faster and more reliable results."
Of course, there are also precautions to keep in mind. Since this treatment is supplied in powder form, mixed with normal saline prior to the procedure, and injected subcutaneously, it is important to remember that verifying the following is a necessary step for safety: whether the clinic uses the correct dosage of genuine products, and whether the procedure is performed directly by a board-certified dermatologist who possesses anatomical knowledge and extensive treatment experience to accurately assess each individual's degree of aging and current skin condition.
